षष्टितमः सर्गः · Kausalyā’s Lament and Sumantra’s Consolation
Sītā’s Fearless Forest-Life

वैदेही का चेहरा पूरा चाँद जैसा चमकता है, जैसे कमल खिला हो। इतना सफ़र के बाद भी उसका चेहरा नहीं पीला पड़ा, ना हिल रहा है।
The countenance of Sita with her gentle eloquence resembles a hundredpetalled lotus. She has the luminance of the full Moon that has not wilted.
The verse connects dharma with inner nobility: a righteous person’s steadiness and generosity manifest outwardly as calmness and clarity even under stress.
Sumantra continues describing Sītā’s unchanged composure and beauty on the road, to ease Kausalyā’s fear for her welfare.
Grace and munificence (vadānyatā) together with emotional steadiness.
