सूर्याचन्द्रमसौ। पू॒र्वा॒प॒रं च॑रतो मा॒ययै॒तौ शिशू॒ क्रीड॑न्तौ॒ परि॑ यातोऽर्ण॒वम्। विश्वा॒न्यो भुव॑ना वि॒चष्ट॑ ऋ॒तूँर॒न्यो वि॒दध॑ज्जायसे॒ नवः॑
sū́ryācandramasau | pū́rvāparaṃ carato māyáyaitáu śiśū́ krī́ḍantau pári yāto 'rṇavám | víśvā́nyo bhúvanā vicáṣṭa ṛtū́n anyó vidadháj jā́yase návaḥ ||
Sun and Moon—by wondrous art these twain move east and west, like children sporting, compassing the ocean-flood. The one surveys all worlds; the other, ordering seasons, is born anew.
सूरज और चाँद दोनों चलते हैं, एक पूरब की तरफ, एक पश्चिम की तरफ। जैसे बच्चे खेलते हैं, वैसे ही यह दोनों समुंदर के आस-पास घूरते हैं। सूरज सब दुनिया को देखता है। चाँद मौसम बनाता है और हर बार नया बन के आता है।
