Mantra 1
अन्नम्। यदन्न॒मद्मि॑ बहु॒धा विरू॑पं॒ हिर॑ण्य॒मश्व॑मु॒त गाम॒जामवि॑म्। यदे॒व किं च॑ प्रतिज॒ग्रहाह॑म॒ग्निष्टद्धोता॒ सुहु॑तं कृनोतु
जो भी खाना मैं खाता हूँ, चाहे सोना हो, घोड़ा हो, गाय हो, बकरी या भेड़। जो भी मैंने लिया है, अग्नि से दुआ है कि वो सब भगवान को अच्छे से ऑफर हो जाए।

यन्मा॑ हु॒तमहु॑तमाज॒गाम॑ द॒त्तं पि॒तृभि॒रनु॑मतं मनु॒ष्यैः । यस्मा॑न्मे॒ मन॒ उदि॑व॒ रार॑जीत्य॒ग्निष्टद्धोता॒ सुहु॑तं कृणोतु
जो भी मुझे मिला, चाहे मैंने पूजा की या नहीं। जो भी पिताजी ने दिया या लोगों ने मन किया। जिस चीज़ से मेरा मन घबराता है, अग्नि से दुआ है कि वो सब साफ हो जाए और भगवान को अच्छा लगे।

यदन्न॒मद्म्यनृ॑तेन देवा दा॒स्यन्नदा॑स्यन्नु॒त सं॑गृ॒णामि॑ । वै॒श्वा॒न॒रस्य॑ मह॒तो म॑हि॒म्ना शि॒वं मह्यं॒ मधु॑मद॒स्त्वन्न॑म्
भगवान, अगर मैंने झूठ खाया, चाहे दिया या नहीं दिया। जब मैंने लिया तो दिल में शर्म आई। तो अग्नि की ताकत से दुआ है कि यह खाना मुझे मीठा हो और अच्छा लगे।
It addresses the impurity or anxiety that can arise from eating food or accepting gifts whose ritual or ethical status feels doubtful, asking Agni to make the act ‘as if properly offered.’
Hotṛ is the offering-priest; invoking Agni as Hotṛ means Agni can correct the sacrificial status of what was taken, converting it into a ‘well-offered’ (suhuta) form.
Both: it is prāyaścitta (expiation) and also bhaisajya-adjacent, because it ends by blessing the food to become śiva (benign) and madhumat (pleasant/wholesome) through Vaiśvānara.
