ऊ॒र्ध्वा दिग् बृह॒स्पति॒रधि॑पतिः श्वि॒त्रो र॑क्षि॒ता व॒र्षमिष॑वः । तेभ्यो॒ नमोऽधि॑पतिभ्यो॒ नमो॑ रक्षि॒तृभ्यो॒ नम॒ इषु॑भ्यो॒ नम॑ एभ्यो अस्तु । यो॒३स्मान् द्वेष्टि॒ यं व॒यं द्वि॒ष्मस्तं वो॒ जम्भे॑ दध्मः
ū́rdhvā́ dig bṛ́haspátir ádhipatiḥ śvitró rakṣitā́ várṣam íṣavaḥ | tébhyo námo ’dhipátibhyo námo rakṣitṛ́bhyo náma íṣubhyo náma ébhyo astu | yó ’smān dvéṣṭi yáṃ vayáṃ dvíṣmas táṃ vo jámbhe dadhmaḥ ||
Upward is the Quarter: Bṛhaspati is its Over-lord; Śvitra is its Guardian; the Rain is its Arrows. To them be homage—to the Over-lords homage, to the Guardians homage, to the Arrows homage; to these be homage—so be it. Whoso hateth us, and whom we hate, him we commit unto your jaws.
ऊपर की दिशा की बात है। बृहस्पति उसका मुखिया है। श्वित्र नाम का रक्षक है। बारिश तीर की तरह काम करती है। इन सब को प्रणाम है, मुखियों को, रक्षकों को, तीरों को। जो हमसे दुश्मनी करे, जिससे हम नाराज़ हों, उसको इनके हाथ सौंपा दे।
