Sukta 27
य॒ज्ञ इन्द्र॑मवर्धय॒द् यद् भूमिं॒ व्यव॑र्तयत्। च॒क्रा॒ण ओ॑प॒शं दि॒वि
yajñá índram avardhayad yád bhū́miṃ vy àvartayat | cakrāṇá úpaśaṃ diví
The sacrifice strengthened Indra, when he rolled forth the earth, making in heaven aid and support.
यज्ञ ने इंद्र को ताकत दी। जब उसने धरती को फैलाया, आसमान में मदद पैदा हुई। यह बड़ा काम था।
Rishi: RV-derived Indra hymn seer (per RV parallel).
Devata: Indra (empowered by yajña)
Chandas: Anuṣṭubh (probable).
Primary: adbhuta
Secondary: shanta
Sayana reads the verse as a doctrinal claim: yajña is the means by which Indra is ‘increased’ (vardhana) and thereby performs world-ordering acts (expanding/setting out the earth). upaśa is glossed as sahāya/upaśamana—heavenly support/relief granted to the sacrificer through Indra’s empowered agency.
To assert and activate the principle that sacrifice empowers Indra, thereby securing cosmic support and practical aid for the patron.
Stability/support parallels bṛṃhaṇa and grounding therapies for vāta imbalance (conceptual only).
Ritualized routine supporting mental stability and adherence—useful adjunct for stress management.
paustika
Ritual patron/householder
To activate the principle ‘yajña strengthens Indra,’ thereby securing support and aid for the patron.
Mythic precedent (itihāsa-style causality): recounting cosmic act to make it operative now.
Instability, loss of support, projects failing to ‘take ground’
General success through divine backing
Sacrifice (yajña) strengthened Indra; when he rolled out the earth, he established help/support (upaśa) in heaven.
Disciplined offering strengthens the ‘Indra-function’ within: decisive power that stabilizes one’s world (earth rolled out) and installs a higher support-system (inner heaven).
Orderly, repeated commitment (ritual/discipline) empowers transformative agency; the cosmos of one’s life becomes stable when effort is linked to meaning.
Link disciplined action to a higher purpose; feel ‘support in heaven’ as inner steadiness.
Mūlādhāra (grounding/earth) and Sahasrāra (heavenly support as meaning)
Slow-meditative; pause after ‘avardhayat’ to feel strengthening.
Earth unfurls as a stable mandala beneath you; above, a canopy of light forms ‘upaśa’—supporting beams of radiance.
Grounded awe; stable resolve.
Choose one daily ‘yajña’ (service, offering, discipline) and keep it unbroken for 40 days; recite before it.
Even, narrative tone; slight lift on ‘indra’ and ‘divi’.
Articulate compounds and sandhi: ‘yajña indram avardhayat’ with clear nasal in ‘indram’.
व्यवर्तयत् (vya-var-ta-yat): keep ‘vya’ cluster clear, चक्राणः (ca-krā-ṇaḥ): retroflex ‘ṇ’, उपशम् (u-pa-śam): palatal ‘ś’
Steady, grounded, slightly resonant.
Best paired with a small disciplined offering (lamp, ghee, or food) to embody the verse’s thesis: yajña → strength → support.
11
Starting something that needs stability: home, job, study, recovery plan, long project.
At the start of the day or before the chosen disciplined practice/offer.
Greater steadiness, follow-through, and sense of being supported.
Do not use to bypass planning or safety; align offerings with capacity and ethics.
