Thou slewest Karañja and also Parṇaya with thy sharpest (force), upon the path of Atithigva. Thou didst shatter the hundreds of Vaṅgṛda’s forts, unyielding, though encompassed round about, with Ṛjiśvan (as ally).
Rishi: RV-derived Indra cycle seer (AV 20 anthology).
Devata: Indra.

Sāyaṇa treats Karañja, Parṇaya, and Vaṅgṛda as named hostile powers (often read as Dasyu leaders/tribes) whose defeat exemplifies Indra’s patronage of allied kings (Atithigva, Ṛjiśvan). ‘tejiṣṭhayā’ is Indra’s most piercing weapon-force (vajra implied). The breaking of ‘puraḥ’ underscores Indra’s capacity to dissolve entrenched resistance; the proper names anchor the hymn in remembered conflict traditions and make it usable for targeted victory rites.
To obtain Indra’s assistance in slaying named enemies and breaking fortified resistance; to transfer mythic precedent to present conflict.
Stress response against ‘encirclement’: using recalled successes + social support to regain agency.
mixed
Named or typified adversaries; fortified resistance; situations of being surrounded.
Transfer Indra’s precedent of slaying named foes and breaking many forts to the patron’s present conflict.
Onomastic litany (name-list) + siege imagery + ally-invocation (ṛjiśvan) to ‘recruit’ supportive forces.
Encirclement, siege-like pressure, stubborn opposition.
Victory leading to security and resources.
Indra slew Karañja and Parṇaya with sharpest force on Atithigva’s path, and shattered hundreds of Vaṅgṛda’s unyielding forts, though surrounded, with Ṛjiśvan as ally.
Named adversaries represent specific, recurring ‘profiles’ of obstruction. The ‘path’ is one’s life-course; allies (Ṛjiśvan) are supportive faculties—discernment, discipline, mentors—without which siege-work fails.
History of victory is a template: by recalling prior breakthroughs (one’s own or mythic), the mind gains lawful confidence to dismantle entrenched resistance.
Recall ‘named’ fears one by one; apply ‘tejas’ as a clean inner blade; invoke support (ṛjiśvan) as straight-backed posture and ethical alignment.
Maṇipūra (decisive force) with support from Mūlādhāra (stability under siege).
Box breathing (4-4-4-4) to simulate siege discipline; exhale on the ‘breaking’ verbs (vadhīḥ/abhinat).
A ring of walls around the heart-space cracks open; a straight path (vartanī) appears forward.
Composed warrior-mind; strategic patience.
After chanting, take one concrete ‘breach action’ (a call, form, apology, plan) to embody the opening.
RV-style; keep clarity on proper names; avoid slurring consonant clusters.
Slightly slow on karañjam / parṇayam / vaṅgṛdasya / ṛjiśvanā to preserve ‘name-efficacy’.
करञ्जम्: ka-ra-ñjam (palatal ñ), पर्णयम्: par-ṇa-yam (retroflex ṇ), वङ्गृदस्य: vaṅ-gṛ-da-sya (gṛ with vocalic ṛ), ऋजिश्वना: ṛ-ji-śva-nā (śva clear)
Steady, declarative; narrative confidence rather than rage.
Name-lists can be adapted by substituting ‘inner enemies’ (anger, doubt) silently, keeping the spoken text intact to avoid improvised abhicāra.
9
Feeling cornered by multiple obligations or opponents; needing a breakthrough under pressure.
When ‘surrounded’—before decisive step; also during travel for protection on the ‘path’.
Restored agency, strategic clarity, strengthened support-seeking behavior.
Do not escalate conflict unnecessarily; pair with ethical review and de-escalation where possible.
Final ‘ऋजिश्व॑ना’ taken as instrumental singular.
