Hymn to Varāha and Pṛthivī’s Inquiry
Prelude to the Sanatkumāra Dialogue
Pūrva Bhāga · Sanatkumāra arrives; observes Earth
स तेन सान्त्वितायां वै पृथिव्यां यः समागतः ॥ सनत्कुमारस्तत्क्षेत्रे दृष्ट्वा तां संस्थितां महीम् ॥
sa tena sāntvitāyāṃ vai pṛthivyāṃ yaḥ samāgataḥ || sanatkumāras tat-kṣetre dṛṣṭvā tāṃ saṃsthitāṃ mahīm ||
sa tena sAntvitAyAM vai pRRithivyAM yaH samAgataH || sanatkumArastatkShetre dRRiShTvA tAM saMsthitAM mahIm
Jab dharti ko thoda sahaara mil gaya, tab Sanatkumar wahan aa gaye. Us jagah dekha ki dharti wapas apni jagah par aa gayi hai.
Narrator
Relieved, stabilized (saṃsthitā) after consolation
Cosmic stability (dhāraṇā/saṃsthiti) is a divine act later confirmed by ṛṣi-witness, grounding tradition in remembered sacred geography.
Treat kṣetra-narratives as living memory: approach sacred places with reverence and learn from realized teachers who ‘arrive’ after restoration to transmit meaning.
Earth is already consoled and re-established; Varaha’s action is presupposed rather than described.
Varāha–Pṛthivī consolation/restoration episode immediately preceding this verse
It introduces Sanatkumāra—often a transmitter of knowledge—indicating a shift from cosmological event to didactic dialogue.
The text says 'tat-kṣetre' (“in that region/place”) without naming it; identification is not possible from this fragment alone.
Stabilization and consolation precede instruction: restoration is followed by reflective discourse and guidance.
