Atri (Ātreya)
Ashvins (Nāsatyā)
Gāyatrī (probable; short refrain-like structure; verify against metrical count)
Is mantra mein Ashvin ko bulaya ja raha hai.
Hey Ashvin brothers, yahan aao. Nazar mat phero, mat jao. Jaise do hans udte hain, waise hi tum bhi aao. Hamare paas aao jahan hum Som ras taiyaar karke baithen hain.
Mantra 2
Ashvin brothers, tum ghode jaise ho, tez aur chamakdar. Jaise bail ghaas ke peeche jaate hain, waise tum bhi aao. Jaise hans udte hain, waise tum bhi udke aao. Hamare paas jahan Som ras hai.
Mantra 3
Ashvin brothers, tum shakti ke malik ho. Hamari puja ko swikaro. Hamari ichcha poori karo. Jaise do hans udte hain, waise tum bhi aao. Hamare paas Som ras taiyaar hai.
Mantra 4
Jab rishi Atri bahut pareshani mein gir gaya tha, usne tumhe pukara. Jaise koi aurat bacche ke liye chillati hai, waise hi usne madad maangi. Ashvins, tum falcon se bhi tez ho. Apni nayi raftaar se aao aur shanti lao.
Mantra 5
Ped ka devta, apni jagah khol do. Jaise baccha paida hone ka time aane par bahar aata hai, waise hi yeh bhi ho jao. Ashvins, meri awaaz suno aur Saptavadhri ko azaad kar do.
Mantra 6
Rishi Saptavadhri dar gaya tha aur dard mein tha. Ashvins, tumne apni shakti se ped ko phaad diya. Usko bachane ke liye tumne ped ko alag-alag kiya aur phir jod diya.
Mantra 7
Jaise hawa kamal wale taal ko har taraf se hila deti hai, waise hi baccha andar se hilna shuru kare. Das mahine ka baccha hai, woh bahar aajaaye.
Mantra 8
Jaise hawa chalti hai, jaise jungle hilta hai, jaise samundar uchhalta hai, waise hi tum bhi bahar aao. Das mahine ka baccha, apni jhilli ke saath bahar aao.
Mantra 9
Dus mahine tak maa ke pet mein bachha leta raha. Ab woh sahi-salimat bahar aaye. Maa bhi zinda rahe aur bachha bhi zinda rahe. Koi takleef na ho. Dono theek-thaak hon.
The hymn praises the Aśvins (also called Nāsatyā), twin divine horsemen known in the Veda as swift healers and rescuers who respond quickly to prayers.
Its main purpose is protection and healing, with a strong focus on safe childbirth—asking that the womb open at the right time and that both mother and child remain alive and unharmed.
Saptavadhri is recalled as an example of the Aśvins’ power to free and save. By naming a past rescue, the hymn strengthens confidence that they will grant timely help again.
