Indra (Marutvat Indra)
Triṣṭubh (probable)
Is mantra mein Marutvat Indra ko bulaya gaya hai. Wo Marut ke saath aate hain aur bahut taakatwar hain. Indra ko Soma peene ko kaha gaya hai. Yajna karne wale ko bal dene ki praarthana hai.
Indra ko Soma peena hai, jiske liye bulaya jaata hai.
Main tumhare liye do taakat jodta hoon, taaki tum tezi se aao. Tum aasman se sun ke aate ho. Yahan tumhare ghode tumhe laakar khada karein. Tum yeh accha Soma piyo.
Mantra 3
Roshni ki kiranon se log Indra ko bithate hain, use bada banane ke liye. Woh Soma peekar khush hota hai. Woh humare liye bahut saari kiranon ko laakar jodta hai.
Mantra 4
Hamari ichcha ko khush kar do, chamak aur taakat ke saath. Isko faila do jaise roshni failti hai. Rishi log soch-soch ke Indra ke liye ek rath bana rahe hain. Kushik naam ke rishiyon ne Indra ke liye yeh gaadi banayi hai.
Mantra 5
Hamare bhale ke liye hum Indra ko pukarte hain. Woh dene wala hai aur ladai mein sabse bada hai. Hum chahte hain woh sunne wala ho, ladai mein madad karne wala. Woh raste mein aane wali cheezein maarta hai aur dhan jeetta hai.
The hymn invokes Indra, specifically “Marutvat Indra,” Indra accompanied by the Maruts (storm-gods), asking him to come, drink Soma, and help the worshipper.
It asks Indra to accept Soma and offerings, grant fullness and prosperity (including the “cows” as wealth and rays of light), and remove obstacles like Vṛtra so victory is gained.
“Cows” can mean actual cattle as wealth, but the verse also uses the common Vedic symbolism of cows as rays of light—powers of illumination and increase that Indra gathers for the devotees.
