Is mantra mein gaay-bhains ki suraksha ke liye prayog bataya gaya hai. Jab pashu charne jaate hain ya paani peene jaate hain, tab unko khatra nahi hota. Rudra ji ko yahan destroyer nahi, balki guard ki tarah bulaya gaya hai. Unki shakti ek protective shield banati hai jo ghaas ke maidan aur paani ke sthan ko safe rakhti hai. Pani aur deviyan bhi herd ko strong banane aur ghar ko safe rakhne ke liye bulaye gaye hain. Isse cowshed aur malik ka ghar dono safe rehte hain.
Mantra 1
Yeh gaayen hain, jo bacche deti hain, chamakti hain jaise chara khane jaati hain. Saaf paani peeti hain jahan paani milta hai.
Tumhe raasta pata hai, tum acchi ho, sab milkar rehti ho, har tarah ke naam se bulaayi jaati ho. Deviyan, bhagwan ke saath yahan aao. Is gaushala ko, is baithak ko, ghee se geela karo. Aur humein bhi poora geela karke mazboot karo.
It is used to protect cattle on the way to pasture and at the watering place, and to strengthen the cowshed and household seat through a protective invocation of Rudra and a ghee-sprinkling consecration.
In this hymn Rudra’s fierce power is redirected into guardianship: his “heti” (weapon/missile) is asked to stand around the herd as a deterrent to thieves and hostile forces.
The hymn itself points to clean water (āpaḥ) for purity and ghee (ghṛta) for sprinkling/strengthening; it is performed in relation to the pasture route, watering place, and the cowshed (goṣṭha).
