Rishi: Atharvanic tradition (attribution uncertain)
Devata: Ṛc and Sāman (personified Vedic speech-forms)
Chandas: Anuṣṭubh (approx.)
Is chapter mein do mantra hain jo Rik aur Saman ko jeevant maante hain. Yeh dono Vedic bolne ke roop hain jo yaj ko chalate hain aur use devta tak pahunchate hain. Iska ek kaam yeh bhi hai ki vidyarthi apni padhai ke dauran surakshit rahe. Jab koi Veda ko sawal karta hai ya use padhta hai, to usse koi nuksan na ho. Balki usse taakat aur saaf samajh mile. Isliye yeh mantra student ke liye ek protection jaisa hai. Yeh kehte hain ki Veda humein takat de aur humara kaam sahi se ho.
Mantra 1
Hum Ric aur Sama dono ki puja karte hain. In dono se hi log apne karam karte hain. Yeh dono sabke saamne chamakte hain. Yeh yagya ko bhagwan tak pahunchate hain.
Mantra 2
Maine Ric aur Sama ke baare mein poocha hai. Yeh havi ki taqat hai, Yajur ki bhi taqat hai. Bhagwan, jab main Ved ko poochhta hoon, toh woh mujhe kabhi takleef na de.
For removing impediments in Vedic learning/teaching and for ensuring that recitation and chanting function safely and effectively, especially when the Veda is being questioned or examined.
Because the hymn views sacred speech-forms as living powers: verse (ṛc) and chant (sāman) are what make ritual action possible and what ‘carry’ the sacrifice to the gods when used correctly.
It asks protection from harm arising from misuse, misunderstanding, or the intense potency of sacred knowledge—so inquiry and instruction proceed without fear, error, or backlash.
