Rishi: Atharvanic/Angirasa tradition (ascribed generically in this plant-hymn complex)
Devata: Śamī (personified tree-power)
Chandas: Triṣṭubh (probable, by cadence and length)
Is adhyaya mein do tarike se plant power ka use bataya hai. Pehle tareeke mein madhu mila hua jau se dosh mitana aur samriddhi lane ka mantra hai. Dusra tareeka Shami ped ke mad ka use hai, jo dushman ya rivels ko confuse kar deta hai. Isse ghar mein sukh milta hai aur bacchon ko suraksha milti hai. Saath hi baal aur appearance se related problems bhi dur hoti hain. Yeh ek tarah ka protective charm hai jo ghar ki shakti badhata hai.
Mantra 1
Yeh mantra buraai kam karne ke liye hai. Devaton ne Saraswati nadi ke paas, ek nagin par, jo ke moti jaisi chamakti hai, yeh jawar taiyaar ki. Usmein shahad milaya. Indra ne hal chalaya, woh hal chalane wale ka malik tha. Marut devata uske peeche hal chalane wale the, woh sab denewale the.
Mantra 2
Shami ped, teri jo khushi hai jo baal khole deti hai aur uda deti hai.
Shami, tere patte bade hain, tu bhagya wali hai. Baarish ne tujhe bada kiya hai. Tu dharam ke saath hai. Maa jaise beton pe daya karti hai, waise hi in baalon pe tu bhi daya kar.
It combines expiation and prosperity (through honeyed barley consecrated on an amulet) with Śamī’s apotropaic power to disarm a rival—making the opponent socially ridiculous while protecting the household.
Hair symbolizes visible order, dignity, and vulnerability. The hymn uses Śamī’s “māda” to disrupt an opponent’s appearance (v.2) and then asks Śamī to restore calm and protection for one’s own side (v.3).
Śamī wood/leaf is primary. Barley (yava) mixed with honey (madhu) is consecrated on a maṇi (amulet/jewel), with Sarasvatī invoked as a purity-field supporting expiation and auspicious growth.
