Rishi: Ṛgvedic provenance; not determinable from excerpt alone.
Devata: Indra (as vṛṣabha)
Chandas: Gāyatrī-like short verse (requires scansion confirmation).
Is mantra mein Indra ki stuti hai jo Soma peene ke liye bulaya ja raha hai. Soma ka ras Indra ke paas bheja ja raha hai taaki wo khush ho jaye. Indra ko vrishabh aur gopati kehte hain kyunki wo balwan hai aur gaye ka malik hai. Jab Indra Soma peeta hai to usme taakat aati hai aur dushmano par jeet milti hai. Gaye ek meetha ras deti hain jo Indra ko aur mazboot banata hai. Yeh sab karke Indra apne bhakton ki raksha karta hai aur unko samriddhi deta hai.
Mantra 1
Hey bail, main Som ras tere liye nikal raha hoon.
Yahan tumhe wo drink pilayi jaye jo tumhe khush kar de aur bade inaam de. Indra, tum piyo jaise kisi jheel se pani pi rahe ho. Tumhara rang peela hai jaise sooraj ki roshni.
Mantra 4
Gaane gaao aur Indra ki tarif karo. Woh gaayon ka malik hai. Sach ka beta hai, accha malik hai. Use jeetne ki koshish karo.
Mantra 5
Peelay aur laal ghode aaye hain. Woh ghaas par baithe hain jahan hum apni puja kar rahe hain. Hum Indra ko bula rahe hain.
Mantra 6
Gaayon ne Indra ke liye meetha doodh nikala hai. Indra vajra wale hain, unke liye yeh drink hai. Jab unhone bulaya toh woh mil gaye.
It energizes Indra with the pressed Soma so he becomes satisfied and powerful, then turns that power into victory, protection, and prosperity—especially cattle-wealth—for the worshipper/patron.
“Bull” highlights Indra’s overflowing strength, virility, and conquering force—qualities the hymn seeks to awaken through Soma and praise.
Āśira is a strengthening milk-mixture used with offerings, and madhu is sweet potency (often honey/sweetened drink). The verse says cows ‘milked out’ this strengthening sweetness for Indra, validating the offering as divinely appropriate.
