Rishi: RV-derived (likely Kaṇva tradition in this cluster)
Devata: Indra
Chandas: Triṣṭubh
Is mantra mein Indra ko bulaya ja raha hai. Kaho ki woh dudh nahi dhuje gaayon ki tarah hamare paas aaye. Indra hi sab chizon ka asli malik hai. Jo chal raha hai aur jo khada hai, sab uske niche hai. Koi bhi Indra jaisa nahi hua, na aisa koi hoga. Isliye hum sirf Indra se maang karte hain.
Hey veer, hum tumhare paas aa rahe hain. Jaise gaayen dudh ke liye aati hain. Tum is duniya ke malik ho. Aasman ko dekhne wale. Tum sab kuch sambhalte ho, jo chal raha hai aur jo tikka hai.
Mantra 2
Tum jaisa koi nahi, na aasman mein na dharati par. Na koi paida hua hai, na hoga. Indra, hum ghode maangte hain, inaam maangte hain, gaayen maangte hain. Hum tumhe pukarte hain.
It is primarily a prosperity (paustika) hymn to call Indra for cattle-wealth, horse-wealth, and vāja—victory-prize strength and success.
The image suggests abundance ready to be drawn forth: just as cows come forward to be milked, the reciters ‘press’ toward Indra so his gifts flow readily.
No. The hymn can be recited plainly; if you wish to align with its imagery, a simple offering of water or a cow-product like milk/curds is sufficient.
