Chandas: Anuṣṭubh (probable; standard for many AV healing/apotropaic verses—confirmable by full hymn metrical scan).
Is mantra mein Prishniparni naam ki ek jadi ko bulaya gaya hai. Yeh jadi dushman logon ki taakat khatam karti hai. Jadu tona aur kala jadu ka asar mita deti hai. Garbh girne wali shaktiyon ko rokti hai. Mantra kehta hai ki bura naam wale logon ka sar kaat do. Is jadi ko Agni jaisa tez socha gaya hai. Yeh ek aisi jadi hai jo sab dushmano ko nirashakt kar deti hai. Isse pure samaj ki suraksha hoti hai.
Mantra 1
Devi Prishniparni, hamare liye accha karo. Hame buri cheezon se bacha lo. Yeh bahut taqatwar hai, dushmanon ko kuchal dene wali. Main is shakti ko apna liya hai.
Mantra 2
Yeh Prishniparni sabse pehle paida hui, aur yeh sab pe jeetne wali hai. Main iski shakti se buri cheezon ka sar kaat deta hoon, jaise koi chidiya ka sar kaat deta hai.
Mantra 3
Pahadi ke logon ko andar lao. Kanva naam ke logon ke paas le jao. Devi Prishniparni, in dushmanon ko aag ki tarah jala do. Peeche peeche jaake unhe khatam karo.
Mantra 5
In Kanva dushmanon ko bahar bhagao, bahut door bhagao. Yeh log jaan leke paas aate hain. Main unhe andhere mein bhej deta hoon jahan woh ja rahe hain. Wahan maans khane wali shakti bhej di hai.
Pṛśniparṇī is a medicinal plant personified as a goddess. The hymn treats her as an active protective power that can both heal and drive away harmful influences.
It is Atharvanic symbolic language for completely disabling an enemy’s power—whether that enemy is a hostile person, a curse, or a demonic force—so it cannot return or act again.
Traditionally it is paired with handling the Pṛśniparṇī herb—binding it as an amulet, brushing the body, or protecting thresholds with sprinkling—while reciting the verses to expel threats and safeguard life, especially pregnancy and household prosperity.
