ईश्वर उवाच । ततो गच्छेन्महादेवि यत्र जांबवती नदी । पुरा जांबवतीनाम विष्णोर्या महिषीप्रिया । अपृच्छदर्जुनं साध्वी वद वार्तां कुरू द्वह
īśvara uvāca | tato gacchenmahādevi yatra jāṃbavatī nadī | purā jāṃbavatīnāma viṣṇoryā mahiṣīpriyā | apṛcchadarjunaṃ sādhvī vada vārtāṃ kurū dvaha
ईश्वर बोले—हे महादेवी, तब उस स्थान को जाना चाहिए जहाँ जाम्बवती नदी बहती है। प्राचीन काल में विष्णु की प्रिय पटरानी, साध्वी जाम्बवती ने अर्जुन से पूछा—‘समाचार कहो; सत्य कहो, कुछ भी न छिपाओ।’
