ईश्वर उवाच । किं ते देवि महाशंकाद्योत्पन्ना वरवर्णिनि । ममोपरि न कर्त्तव्या निरुद्विग्ना भव प्रिये । पितुस्तव प्रभावेन लांछनं शशिनोऽभवत्
īśvara uvāca | kiṃ te devi mahāśaṃkādyotpannā varavarṇini | mamopari na karttavyā nirudvignā bhava priye | pitustava prabhāvena lāṃchanaṃ śaśino'bhavat
ईश्वर बोले—हे देवी, वरवर्णिनी! तुम्हारे मन में यह महान् शंका क्यों उत्पन्न हुई? मुझ पर ऐसा संदेह न करो; प्रिय, निश्चिन्त रहो। तुम्हारे पिता के प्रभाव से ही चन्द्रमा पर यह कलंक आया।
