क्षुभ संचलने धातुर्निश्चला तेन निक्षुभा । भवंति ह्यथवा यस्मात्स्वांगीयाः क्षुद्विवर्जिताः
kṣubha saṃcalane dhāturniścalā tena nikṣubhā | bhavaṃti hyathavā yasmātsvāṃgīyāḥ kṣudvivarjitāḥ
‘क्षुभ्’ धातु का अर्थ ‘संचलन/क्षोभ’ है; वह अचल होने से ‘निक्षुभा’ कहलाती है। अथवा क्योंकि उसके अपने अंग से उत्पन्न संतति भूख से रहित हो जाती है।
