शृण्वेतत्कारणं शंभो एते प्राप्तास्तवांतिकम् । युगत्रये व्यतिक्रांते कृतादिद्वापरांतके

śṛṇvetatkāraṇaṃ śaṃbho ete prāptāstavāṃtikam | yugatraye vyatikrāṃte kṛtādidvāparāṃtake

हे शम्भो, यह कारण सुनिए कि हम आपके समीप क्यों आए हैं। जब कृत से आरम्भ होकर द्वापर के अन्त तक तीनों युग व्यतीत हो गए—
