गृध्र उवाच । श्रृणु भद्रै पुरा जातो मर्कटोऽहं च चापलः । आसं कदाचिदभवद्वसंतोऽथ ऋतुः क्रमात्
gṛdhra uvāca | śrṛṇu bhadrai purā jāto markaṭo'haṃ ca cāpalaḥ | āsaṃ kadācidabhavadvasaṃto'tha ṛtuḥ kramāt
गृध्र बोला—हे भद्र! सुनो। पूर्वकाल में मैं चंचल स्वभाव वाला एक वानर के रूप में जन्मा था। एक बार क्रम से वसन्त ऋतु आ पहुँची।
