niśamya praṇipatyāha nṛpaḥ svahṛdayasthitam | iṃdradyumna uvāca | cirāyurbhagavānbhūmau viśrutaḥ sāṃprataṃ tataḥ
Narrator and Indradyumna (direct speech)
Listener: Śaunaka and sages at Naimiṣāraṇya (implied frame)
Scene: A crowned king (Indradyumna) listens intently, then bows with folded hands before an aged sage; the atmosphere is calm, with a hermitage backdrop and a sense of a sacred name becoming celebrated in the world.
True knowledge is approached with reverence—listening first, bowing, and then speaking from sincerity of heart.
The verse implies a sacred meeting with a sage (context: Naimiṣāraṇya), but does not explicitly state tīrtha-phala.
No formal rite; it models respectful conduct toward sages (praṇipāta and praśna).
