बर्बरीकशिरश्चैव गिरिशृंगमवाप्य तत् । देहस्य भूमिसंस्काराश्चाभवच्छिरसो नहि । ततो युद्धं महदभूत्कुरुपांडवसेनयोः
barbarīkaśiraścaiva giriśṛṃgamavāpya tat | dehasya bhūmisaṃskārāścābhavacchiraso nahi | tato yuddhaṃ mahadabhūtkurupāṃḍavasenayoḥ
बर्बरीक का सिर उस पर्वत-शिखर पर जा पहुँचा। उसके शरीर का भूमिसंस्कार (दाह/समाधि) किया गया, पर सिर का नहीं। इसके बाद कुरु और पाण्डव सेनाओं के बीच महान युद्ध छिड़ गया।
