koṭitīrthasya māhātmyaṃ mahīnagarakasya ca | śṛṇoti śrāvayedyastu brahmabhūyāya kalpate
जो कोटितीर्थ तथा महीनगरक का माहात्म्य सुनता है या दूसरों को सुनवाता है, वह ब्रह्मभूय—ब्रह्म-स्थिति की प्राप्ति—के योग्य हो जाता है।
Sūta (Lomaharṣaṇa) addressing sages/brāhmaṇas
Tirtha: Koṭitīrtha; Mahīnagaraka
Type: tirtha
Scene: Two sacred sites symbolized: a vast tīrtha with countless (koṭi) lamps/lingas and a fortified ‘nagaraka’ with a central shrine; a recitation scene bridges them, with a luminous Brahman-like radiance above listeners’ heads.
Engagement with tīrtha-māhātmya through hearing and teaching is linked not only to merit but to the highest spiritual aim (brahmabhūya).
Koṭitīrtha and Mahīnagaraka.
Śravaṇa (listening) and śrāvayati (having it recited/teaching it) of the māhātmya.
