स्कंदप्रसादजः पुत्रो लोहिताक्षो भयंकरः । एष वीराष्टकः प्रोक्तः स्कंदमातृगणोऽद्भुतः
skaṃdaprasādajaḥ putro lohitākṣo bhayaṃkaraḥ | eṣa vīrāṣṭakaḥ proktaḥ skaṃdamātṛgaṇo'dbhutaḥ
स्कन्द की कृपा से लोहिताक्ष नामक भयंकर रूप वाला पुत्र उत्पन्न हुआ। यही ‘वीराष्टक’ कहा गया है—स्कन्द-मातृगण का अद्भुत समुदाय।
