किमत्र नो संति पुरः सहस्रशः पदेपदे सर्वसमृद्धिभूमयः । परं न काशी सदृशीदृशोः पदं क्वचिद्गता मे भवता शपे शिव
kimatra no saṃti puraḥ sahasraśaḥ padepade sarvasamṛddhibhūmayaḥ | paraṃ na kāśī sadṛśīdṛśoḥ padaṃ kvacidgatā me bhavatā śape śiva
यहाँ क्या हजारों नगर नहीं हैं—पग-पग पर सर्वसमृद्धि की भूमियाँ? पर काशी के समान कोई नहीं; वही मेरी दृष्टि का परम ध्येय है। यदि मैंने कभी इसके विपरीत कहा हो, हे शिव, तो मुझे दण्डित करो।
