आकर्ण्य तत्करुणवत्परिदेवितानि तानि द्रुमा व्रततयः कुसुमाश्रुपातैः । प्रायो रुदंति पततां विरुतार्तरावैरालोल्यमौलिमसकृत्पवनच्छलेन
ākarṇya tatkaruṇavatparidevitāni tāni drumā vratatayaḥ kusumāśrupātaiḥ | prāyo rudaṃti patatāṃ virutārtarāvairālolyamaulimasakṛtpavanacchalena
उन करुणामय विलापों को सुनकर वे वृक्ष व्रतधारी तपस्वियों-से प्रतीत हुए, मानो पुष्पों के अश्रु-वर्षा से रो रहे हों। प्रायः वे गिरते पक्षियों की व्याकुल पुकारों से कराहते-से थे, और पवन के बहाने उनके शिखर बार-बार डोलते रहे।
