विंध्य उवाच । धिग्जीवितंशास्त्रकलोज्झितस्य धिग्जीवितं चोद्यमवर्जितस्य । धिग्जीवितं ज्ञातिपराजितस्य धिग्जीवितं व्यथर्मनोरथस्य
viṃdhya uvāca | dhigjīvitaṃśāstrakalojjhitasya dhigjīvitaṃ codyamavarjitasya | dhigjīvitaṃ jñātiparājitasya dhigjīvitaṃ vyatharmanorathasya
विन्ध्य बोले—धिक है उस जीवन पर जो शास्त्र-विद्या और कलाओं से रहित हो; धिक है उस जीवन पर जिसमें उत्तम पुरुषार्थ का अभाव हो। धिक है उस जीवन पर जो अपने ही कुटुम्बियों से पराजित हो; धिक है उस जीवन पर जिसके मनोरथ व्यर्थ होकर घायल हो गए हों।
