पितरश्चात्र पूज्याश्च स्वर्गता ये च पूर्वजाः । पिंडांश्च निर्वपेत्तेषां प्राप्येमां मुक्तिदायिकाम्
pitaraścātra pūjyāśca svargatā ye ca pūrvajāḥ | piṃḍāṃśca nirvapetteṣāṃ prāpyemāṃ muktidāyikām
यहाँ पितर पूज्य हैं—वे पूर्वज जो स्वर्ग को गए हैं। इस मुक्तिदायिनी भूमि पर पहुँचकर उनके लिए विधिपूर्वक पिण्ड-दान करना चाहिए।
