śrīmārkaṇḍeya uvāca | citronāma mahātejā indrasya dayitaḥ purā | tasya putro nṛpaśreṣṭha pattreśvara iti śrutaḥ
Mārkaṇḍeya
Tirtha: Revā-tīrtha (contextual)
Type: kshetra
Listener: Yudhiṣṭhira
Scene: Mārkaṇḍeya begins the tale, naming Citra—radiant and dear to Indra—and introducing his son Pattreśvara, setting a heroic-yet-fallible character arc.
Tīrtha narratives are anchored in exemplary lineages and divine associations, strengthening faith in the site’s sanctity.
Pattreśvara is introduced as a renowned figure tied to the tīrtha’s fame.
None in this verse; it provides identification and lineage.
