तत्र तीर्थे तु यः स्नात्वा पूजयेत्परमेश्वरम् । अश्वमेधस्य यज्ञस्य फलं प्राप्नोति मानवः
tatra tīrthe tu yaḥ snātvā pūjayetparameśvaram | aśvamedhasya yajñasya phalaṃ prāpnoti mānavaḥ
जो मनुष्य उस तीर्थ में स्नान करके परमेश्वर की पूजा करता है, वह अश्वमेध यज्ञ के फल के समान पुण्य प्राप्त करता है।
Mārkaṇḍeya (deduced from immediate continuation into Adhyāya 153 where he speaks)
Tirtha: Bhārgaleśvara-tīrtha
Type: ghat
Listener: King
Scene: Pilgrim bathing at a river ford near a Śiva shrine, then offering bilva and lamps to the liṅga; the scene conveys ‘Aśvamedha-tulya’ grandeur through divine radiance rather than royal pomp.
Pilgrimage becomes spiritually complete when tīrtha-snān (sacred bathing) is joined with devotion and worship of Śiva.
A tīrtha within the Revā Khaṇḍa (Narmadā/Revā sacred geography) is praised; the verse refers to “that tīrtha” described in the surrounding passage.
Bathing at the tīrtha followed by worship (pūjā) of Parameśvara (Śiva).
