tatra tīrthe tu yaḥ snātvā dāpayetkāñcanaṃ śuciḥ | bhrūṇahatyādipāpāni naśyante nātra saṃśayaḥ
Mārkaṇḍeya (contextual continuation)
Tirtha: Pāṇḍutīrtha
Type: ghat
Listener: O King (rājan)
Scene: A pilgrim, freshly bathed, offers a small gold piece to a seated recipient near the ghat; the river glows; the act is framed as inner cleansing and release from heavy karmic burden.
Purification is completed through both sacred bathing and charitable giving, uniting inner and outer dharma.
The same tīrtha referenced in the passage—Pāṇḍutīrtha in the Revā Khaṇḍa.
Snāna at the tīrtha followed by kāñcana-dāna (donation of gold), presented as highly expiatory.
