Departure and Lament in Separation
punaḥ punaḥ śivāmātā yāmayo'nyāśca yoṣitaḥ | bhrātaro janakaḥ premṇā rurudurbaddhasauhṛdāḥ

It highlights intense human attachment (sauhṛda) and the pain of separation, implicitly contrasting worldly bonds with the higher refuge in Pati (Śiva); in Shaiva understanding, such emotion is purified when redirected into steadfast bhakti toward Śiva.
The verse frames the devotional mood around Śivā (Pārvatī) and her relation to Śiva; the narrative context supports Saguna Śiva-bhakti where emotions—grief, longing, love—are offered and transformed through worship, including Linga-upāsanā.
A practical takeaway is to steady the mind in grief or separation by japa of the Pañcākṣarī mantra (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and simple Śiva-pūjā (water/abhiṣeka), converting worldly sorrow into devotional remembrance.
