It highlights that right discernment (saṃvicāra) brings prasanna-dhi—clarity and serenity—making the mind fit to receive Shiva’s grace and to proceed on a dharmic path without agitation.
Linga-worship in the Shiva Purana emphasizes inner readiness; a calm, lucid mind supports focused devotion (bhakti) and steady attention to Saguna Shiva, allowing worship to become transformative rather than merely external.
Before puja or japa, pause for brief self-inquiry and intention-setting (saṃvicāra), then perform steady mantra-recitation—especially the Panchākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—with a composed mind.
