वसिष्ठ का यह संक्षिप्त सूक्त द्यावापृथिवी—स्वर्ग और पृथ्वी—को एक साथ विशाल दिव्य माता‑पिता के रूप में आवाहन करता है, जो ऋत (ब्रह्माण्डीय व्यवस्था) को धारण करते हैं। उनसे यज्ञ में अग्रस्थान ग्रहण करने, “दिव्य जनों” (सहायक शक्तियों) के साथ आने, और उपासकों को प्रचुर धन‑सम्पदा तथा स्थायी कल्याण प्रदान करने की प्रार्थना की गई है।

Mantra 1
प्र द्यावा यज्ञैः पृथिवी नमोभिः सबाध ईळे बृहती यजत्रे । ते चिद्धि पूर्वे कवयो गृणन्तः पुरो मही दधिरे देवपुत्रे ॥
यज्ञों द्वारा द्यौः को और नमस्कारों द्वारा पृथिवी को—अविभक्त होकर साथ-साथ—मैं स्तुति से पुकारता हूँ, उन दोनों विशाल, यज्ञ-योग्य देवियों को। क्योंकि प्राचीन कवि-ऋषि भी गान करते हुए इन्हीं को अग्रभाग में स्थापित करते थे—महान, देव-पुत्री शक्तियों को।

प्र पूर्वजे पितरा नव्यसीभिर्गीर्भिः कृणुध्वं सदने ऋतस्य । आ नो द्यावापृथिवी दैव्येन जनेन यातं महि वां वरूथम् ॥
हे पूर्वजन्मा माता-पिता, ऋत के सदन में नूतन-नूतन वाणियों से अपना प्राकट्य रचो। हे द्यावा-पृथिवी, दैवी जनों (शक्तियों) के साथ हमारे पास आओ; महान् है तुम्हारा वरूथ—हमारे चारों ओर का रक्षक विस्तार।

उतो हि वां रत्नधेयानि सन्ति पुरूणि द्यावापृथिवी सुदासे । अस्मे धत्तं यदसदस्कृधोयु यूयं पात स्वस्तिभिः सदा नः ॥
क्योंकि, हे द्यावा–पृथिवी, सुदास (उदार दाता) के लिए तुम्हारे रत्न-निधान बहुत से हैं। जो कुछ अभी अभाव में हो, उसे हममें धरो—हे अक्रुधोयु (अक्लान्त दाता); और सदा अपनी स्वस्तियों (कल्याणकारी रक्षाओं) से हमारी रक्षा करो।
