आचार्ये संस्थिते चापि त्रिरात्रं क्षपणं स्मृतम् । छिद्राण्येतानि विप्राणामनध्यायाः प्रकीर्तिताः

ācārye saṃsthite cāpi trirātraṃ kṣapaṇaṃ smṛtam | chidrāṇyetāni viprāṇāmanadhyāyāḥ prakīrtitāḥ

आचार्य के दिवंगत हो जाने पर भी तीन रातों तक वेदाध्ययन का विराम कहा गया है। ये ब्राह्मणों के ‘छिद्र’ अर्थात् अनध्याय के काल घोषित हैं।
