सुप्तिङुपग्रहलिंगनराणां कालहलूचूस्वरकर्तृयडां च । व्यत्ययमिच्छति शास्रकृदेषां सोऽपि च सिद्ध्यति बाहुलकेन ॥ ८ ॥

सुप् (नाम-विभक्ति), तिङ् (क्रिया-प्रत्यय), उपग्रह (उपसर्ग), लिंग तथा नर/कर्तृ, और काल, ह-लु-चू अक्षर, स्वर, कर्तृ तथा यड्—इनमें जब व्याकरण-शास्त्रकार परस्पर-परिवर्तन चाहता है, तो वह भी प्रचलित बहुल प्रयोग से सिद्ध माना जाता है।
