Adhyaya 78 — Hymn to Surya and the Distribution of Solar Splendour; Genealogy of Vaivasvata and Chaya’s Line
retaso 'nte ca revantaḥ khaḍgī carmo tanutradhṛk / aśvārūḍhaḥ samudbhūto bāṇatūṇasamanvitaḥ
The verse presents ‘dharma of protection’ through iconography: divine power is not only luminous (Sūrya) but also defensive and order-preserving (armed, armored Revanta).
Vaṃśānucarita: it records the characteristic birth and attributes of a figure within the Solar familial cycle.
Revanta’s immediate emergence as fully armed suggests latent śakti manifesting as readiness—‘potential’ becoming ‘function’ without graduality, a common Purāṇic sign of divinity.
