Adhyaya 46 — Cosmic Dissolution, the Emergence of Brahma, and the Measures of Time (Yugas, Manvantaras, and Brahma’s Day)
tadā tamaś ca sattvañ ca samatvena vyavasthitau |
anudriktāv anūnau ca tatprotau ca parasparam ||

Cosmic activity begins when guṇas become disturbed; peace is described as guṇic equilibrium. Practically, it echoes yogic discipline: reducing agitation and restoring balance leads toward inner dissolution of fluctuations.
A technical description supporting Sarga/Pratisarga: it explains the guṇic state that characterizes Pralaya and sets the stage for renewed emanation when imbalance arises.
Mutual ‘weaving’ of guṇas implies that even in quiescence, potentiality remains; the cosmos is not destroyed but held as a latent tapestry awaiting the impulse (kṣobha) of manifestation.
