Adhyaya 45 — Jaimini’s Cosmological Questions and the Opening of Markandeya’s Account of Primary Creation
etatsamastaṃ jānīyāt kṣetrakṣetrajñalakṣaṇam | ityeṣa prākṛtaḥ sargaḥ kṣetrajñādhiṣṭhitas tu saḥ | abuddhipūrvaḥ prathamaḥ prādurbhūtas taḍid yathā

Creation is not merely mechanical: it is ‘presided over’ by a knowing principle; therefore, knowledge (jñāna) is central to understanding reality and one’s place within it.
Directly Sarga (primary creation), concluding the prākṛta-sarga description and its supervision by kṣetrajña.
‘Like lightning’ suggests instantaneous manifestation from the causal level—analogous to sudden insight where the witness-principle is recognized prior to thought (abuddhipūrva).
