Adhyaya 23 — The Brahmin and His Wife
बान्धवाश्च तथैच्छन्ति जीवितं गुणिनश्चिरम् ।
परिवादनिवृत्तानां दुर्गतेषु दयावताम् ।
गुणिनां सफलं जन्म संश्रितानां विपद्गतैः ॥
bāndhavāś ca tathā icchanti jīvitaṃ guṇinaś ciram | parivāda-nivṛttānāṃ durgateṣu dayāvatām | guṇināṃ saphalaṃ janma saṃśritānāṃ vipad-gataiḥ ||
बंधुजन भी चाहते हैं कि सज्जन दीर्घायु हों। जो निंदा से विरत रहते हैं और दीनों पर करुणा करते हैं, उनका सज्जन-जन्म सफल होता है—क्योंकि वे आपत्ति में पड़े लोगों का आधार बनते हैं।
