त्राता इन्द्रः। त्रातारमिन्द्रमवितारमिन्द्रं हवेहवे सुहवं शूरमिन्द्रम्। हुवे नु शक्रं पुरुहूतमिन्द्रं स्वस्ति न इन्द्रो मघवान् कृणोतु
trātā́ram índram avitā́ram índraṃ háve-have suhávaṃ śū́ram índram | huvè nú śákraṃ puruhūtám índraṃ svastí na índro maghávān kṛṇotu ||
Indra the Protector, Indra the Helper—him, the easy-to-invoke heroic one, I call at every call. Now I invoke Śakra, Indra much-invoked: may Indra the bounteous establish welfare for us.
इन्द्र रक्षक हैं। रक्षक इन्द्र को, सहायक इन्द्र को—उस सुहव (सहज आह्वान-योग्य) वीर इन्द्र को मैं हर-हर पुकार में बुलाता हूँ। अब मैं शक्र, बहु-आहूत इन्द्र का आह्वान करता हूँ; दानी इन्द्र हमारे लिए स्वस्ति (कल्याण) स्थापित करें।
