सूर्याचन्द्रमसौ। पूर्वापरं चरतो माययैतौ शिशू क्रीडन्तौ परि यातोऽर्णवम्। विश्वान्यो भुवना विचष्ट ऋतूँरन्यो विदधज्जायसे नवः
sū́ryācandramasau | pū́rvāparaṃ carato māyáyaitáu śiśū́ krī́ḍantau pári yāto 'rṇavám | víśvā́nyo bhúvanā vicáṣṭa ṛtū́n anyó vidadháj jā́yase návaḥ ||
Sun and Moon—by wondrous art these twain move east and west, like children sporting, compassing the ocean-flood. The one surveys all worlds; the other, ordering seasons, is born anew.
सूर्य और चन्द्रमा—माया (अद्भुत शक्ति) से ये दोनों पूर्व-पश्चिम चलते हैं; खेलते हुए बालकों-से समुद्र-प्रवाह के चारों ओर परिक्रमा करते हैं। एक समस्त भुवनों को देखता-परखता है; दूसरा ऋतुओं का विधान करता हुआ, नित्य नव-नव जन्म लेता है।
