जातो व्यख्यत् पित्रोरुपस्थे भुवो न वेद जनितुः परस्य । स्तविष्यमाणो नो यो अस्मद् व्रता देवानां स जनास इन्द्रः

IAST Transliteration

jātó vyákhyat pitrór upásthe bhúvo ná veda janitúḥ párasya | stavíṣyamāṇo no yó asmád vratā́ devā́nāṃ sá janāsa índraḥ

English Translation (Griffith/Whitney)

Born, he made himself manifest in the lap of his two parents; he knew not the worlds, nor the highest begetter. Yet, while he is to be praised, he who (guardeth) us from our ordinance—(and from) the gods’—he, O men, is Indra.

Translation

जन्म लेते ही वह अपने दोनों माता‑पिता की गोद में प्रकट हुआ; वह न तो लोकों को जानता था, न उस परम जनक को। फिर भी, जो स्तुति‑योग्य है—जो हमें हमारे व्रत‑नियम से (और) देवताओं के (नियम से) भी बचाए/रक्षा करे—वही, हे जनो, इन्द्र है।
