FAQs

It transmits Ayurvedic dravya-nirdeśa: a technical enumeration of substances (herbs like Kākolī/Śālmalī, earth/clay, metal implement/metal, and residues/sediments) used as ingredients or processing aids in preparations.

Rather than narrative theology, it preserves a compact technical catalogue of materia medica and practical substances (plant, mineral/metal, and environmental sources like river-material), reflecting the Purana’s compendium style across sciences such as Ayurveda.

By framing medicinal and technical knowledge within a Purāṇic teaching, the text treats healing and proper preparation as dharmic action—supporting purity, wellbeing, and the merit of preserving life through sanctioned knowledge.
