Related Themes: Agni Purana 311 (Abhicāra-kalpa; vashīkaraṇa/jaya mantras)
It teaches a vashīkaraṇa/jaya-prayoga: using specific bīja-syllables (phaṭ, strīṃ, kṣeṃ, hūṃ) with lakṣa-japa (100,000 repetitions) to attain ritual ‘siddhi’ aimed at conquest and bringing yakṣa-class beings under control.
Alongside theology and dharma, the Agni Purāṇa preserves applied ritual technologies—mantra-sādhana, bīja usage, and quantified japa—linking spiritual practice with statecraft themes like victory, sovereignty, and control over unseen forces.
It frames mantra as a power-bearing discipline where efficacy depends on sustained japa and focused intent; ethically, such force-oriented rites are traditionally treated as potent and responsibility-laden, requiring purity, restraint, and right motivation to avoid adverse karmic outcomes.
