FAQs

It signals a shift into an itihāsa-style exemplum (traditional historical narrative) used in Purāṇic literature to ground ethical or philosophical instruction in an authoritative ‘ancient account’ (purāvṛtta).

No specific geographic location is named in this verse; it functions as a preface to a forthcoming narrative that may later introduce places or sacred geography.

The verse emphasizes attentive listening to a precedent-based teaching: well-being is presented as relevant both ‘here’ (iha) and ‘in the other world’ (paraloka), and the instruction will be supported through an inherited tradition (itihāsa).
