Paingala Upanishad 9: Verse 9

स तेषां सत्त्वांशं चतुर्धा कृत्वा भागत्रयसमष्टितः पञ्चक्रियावृत्त्यात्मकमन्तःकरणमसृजत्। स तेषां सत्त्वतुरीयभागेन ज्ञानेन्द्रियाण्यसृजत्॥९॥

IAST Transliteration

sa teṣāṃ sattvāṃśaṃ caturdhā kṛtvā bhāgatrayasamaṣṭitaḥ pañcakriyāvṛttyātmakam antaḥkaraṇam asṛjat | sa teṣāṃ sattvatūryabhāgena jñānendriyāṇy asṛjat ||9||

Translation

તેણે તેમના સત્ત્વાંશને ચતુર્ધા કરીને, ત્રણ ભાગોના સમષ્ટિથી પંચક્રિયાવૃત્તિ-રૂપ અંતઃકરણની રચના કરી. અને તેમના સત્ત્વના ચોથા ભાગથી જ્ઞાનેન્દ્રિયોનું સર્જન કર્યું॥૯॥

Academic Translation

He, having made their sattva-portion into four parts, created from the aggregate of three parts the inner instrument (antaḥkaraṇa) consisting of five functional activities. From their fourth part, the sattva-fourth, he created the organs of knowledge (jñānendriyas).
