यस्याः सकृज्जलस्नानं स्पर्द्धते ब्रह्मविद्यया । तेन वै गोमती सेयं सर्वतीर्थोत्तमोत्तमा । ब्रह्मज्ञानेन मुच्यंते प्रयागमरणेन वा । स्नानमात्रेण गोमत्यां मुच्यते पूर्वजैः सह
yasyāḥ sakṛjjalasnānaṃ sparddhate brahmavidyayā | tena vai gomatī seyaṃ sarvatīrthottamottamā | brahmajñānena mucyaṃte prayāgamaraṇena vā | snānamātreṇa gomatyāṃ mucyate pūrvajaiḥ saha
જેણાં જળમાં એકવાર સ્નાન કરવું પણ બ્રહ્મવિદ્યાના ફળને સ્પર્શે છે; તેથી આ ગોમતી સર્વ તીર્થોમાં ઉત્તમોત્તમા છે. બ્રહ્મજ્ઞાનથી અથવા પ્રયાગમાં દેહત્યાગથી મુક્તિ મળે; પરંતુ ગોમતીમાં માત્ર સ્નાનથી જ મનુષ્ય પૂર્વજો સહિત મુક્ત થાય છે।
