sahasraṃ vatsarāṇāṃ tu ratāsaktasya śūlinaḥ | atikrāṃtaṃ na devānāṃ tena kṛtyaṃ vinirmitam

શૂલિન (શિવ) રતિ-સંયોગમાં આસક્ત રહી સહસ્ર વર્ષો સુધી એમ જ રહ્યા; એ સમયગાળામાં દેવો તેમના પર આધારિત ઇચ્છિત કાર્ય સિદ્ધ કરી શક્યા નહીં.
