aṣṭottamāni catvāri madhyamāni vidhānataḥ | kānīyasāni śeṣāṇi trividhatvamidaṃ viduḥ

વિધિ મુજબ આઠ દાન ‘ઉત્તમ’ અને ચાર ‘મધ્યમ’ કહેવાય છે; બાકીના ‘કનીય’ છે. આમ જ્ઞાનીજન આ ત્રિવિધ દરજ્જો જાણે છે.
